I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Barry Klein and I am one of the many Black Belt Instructors here at Dalton Combatives. I have been on and off the mats for the better part of my life. I grew up wrestling (folk style, freestyle, and a little Greco-Roman); I wrestled throughout my youth, through high school, in college, and in open class. I competed for the last time at age 30, and unfortunately, adult life took over and I simply wasn’t able to find time for it anymore. Like many others a UFC event introduced me to jiu-jitsu, and it reignited a passion for grappling that I'd relegated to a corner of my memories. I decided to look into it, and my timing could not have been more perfect. I had heard of a recently opened BJJ school in Dalton, and I began my jiu-jitsu journey at the ripe young age of 44. With the exception of wishing I had discovered it sooner, I've had no regrets. I'm older now and I've had a few significant non-BJJ-related injuries, which have forced me to reinvent the way I train and play. After 12 years of being the oldest and smallest person in the room I received my black belt and now I probably study the art more than ever. Besides training, one of my favorite things in the gym is teaching others how they can be an effective grappler regardless of their age, size, weight, or strength. I look forward to meeting you on the mats.
